Stock Car Series 2003

"Race on de track, not on de road"

The Stock Car Series moves into 2003 with some minor regulation changes and a championship structure that aligns it with the Trinidad & Tobago Automobile Sports Association's (TTASA) point system. The series has essentially become a new TTASA class, making drivers eligible for TTASA's overall Champion Driver of the year award.

The 2002 season saw Greg de Verteuil, a 2000 novice, take the championship with an exceptionally-well sorted car and a series of superb drives, culumnating with some wonderfully-executed defensive driving against second-place finisher Christian Hospedales at the last round. Third place in the series went to the always-quick Kelvin "Tanko" Baboolal.

A major issue which arose in the final round was the rule-bending tyres used by Greg and Christian which reduced their lap times by some two seconds per lap! These tyres are officially banned with the new 2003 regulation changes.
